Pros

Compensation is good. The product has a lot of potential and getting stocks might get you a lot of $ in the future.

Kontras

Software engineering is 90% copy-paste driven. The culture is toxic - there's a lot of pressure from the C level for results, the upper management is afraid for their jobs and push for quick wins that do not bring long term value. There are random layoffs and reorgs every quarter. Ownership is passed like hot potato and in the end no one knows anything about how things operate.

pay, remote, some good/smart people in pockets

Kontras

Senior leaders could not care less about employees and routinely make bad market decisions leading to foreseeable product issues and eventual layoff cycles. There was a time a few years back where employees criticized the dark patterns in the app - the president got pissed and said 'the data didn't show it was an issue', then a few months later when we got bad press about those patterns dismissed it as our competitors planting stories - sums up the culture pretty clearly.
