Pros

Compensation - a decent base salary but commission is very unpredictable and out of your control what the UW team approves Coworkers are nice and supportive (when they’re not being laid off)

Kontras

Management is extremely disorganized and sets unrealistic, constantly changing goals. Decisions are made based on short-term profit rather than employee success or stability. Layoffs happen constantly and without any reasoning, other than cost-cutting and greed. Work is regularly outsourced to South Africa and the Philippines so the company can pay as little as possible. There is absolutely no work-life balance. If you take a day off you will still receive nonstop calls, texts, and emails and are expected to respond. Boundaries are not respected at all. Territory management is a mess. I, along with others, were hired for a territory that already had existing reps working it, something leadership somehow “didn’t realize” until after hiring multiple people. This led to constant internal conflict and lost opportunities through no fault of the reps. The company hires reps who break contracts at other companies that take clients within territories you’ve already built and worked hard on. Overall, leadership lacks ethics, organization, and respect for employees. If you’re looking for job stability, fairness, or a healthy work environment, this is not the place.

Pros

My first year at Highrise Financial has been a great privilege. As an after-hours agent, I learned to work independently with minimal supervision. The training and guidance from supervisors helped me gain confidence in my role. I also appreciate the supportive and friendly work environment.

Kontras

There were times when working independently was challenging, especially during busy periods. Communication can sometimes be improved for better clarity and efficiency.

Kontras

I worked for this company for approximately two years. The following reflects my personal experience and observations during my employment. I am sharing this review to provide insight for prospective employees. No salary growth: During my two years of employment, I did not receive any annual salary increases, despite consistent performance and an increase in workload and responsibilities. Performance management concerns: Although I regularly handled a high volume of work with few errors, feedback appeared to focus primarily on minor issues. At the same time, I was asked to assist with training new employees, which suggested that my overall performance was considered reliable. Disciplinary approach to minor errors: Minor, human errors—such as typographical mistakes in client or company names, including information provided by clients—were addressed in a punitive manner. On several occasions, employees were sent home 1–2 hours early without pay as a corrective measure. Limited employee benefits: The company did not offer standard benefits such as paid sick leave or annual leave. Paid time off was limited, with one paid day off granted for every two months worked, only after completing two years of service. Workplace culture concerns: Based on my experience, aspects of the workplace culture raised concerns regarding fairness and inclusivity, particularly relating to religion and nationality. These concerns did not appear to be addressed when raised. Lack of company-provided equipment: The company did not provide all essential equipment required for the role. I was provided with a monitor but was required to purchase my own laptop, headset, and internet connection while earning $4.25 per hour throughout my employment. Handling of employee concerns: I raised a concern about an account manager repeatedly highlighting minor errors and tagging senior management to the complaint, which I felt was discouraging and only meant to undermining me. After escalating this concern to HR and management, my employment was terminated. A subsequent discussion with the director felt dismissive, and I was advised that technical issues with company applications were my responsibility, despite these being company systems. Commitment despite challenges: Despite the low pay and limited support, I remained committed to my role. As a single parent, I continued working even when unwell, not only for financial reasons but also to support my team and avoid placing additional pressure on colleagues. Technical support limitations: In my experience, technical support was limited. Employees were often expected to resolve application and system issues independently, which impacted efficiency and increased stress. Break policy: Given the high call volumes, the allocated breaks—5 minutes for bathroom use and 30 minutes for lunch—felt restrictive and challenging to manage consistently. Especially being a women. Despite doing the highest volume of calls with little or minor human errors and the training of new staff i feel that this company has completely dismissed my efforts. Also in the 2 years this has been the first concern i have rasied. Overall the work environment was highly stressful, punitive, and unsupportive. Concerns raised in good faith were not addressed constructively and, in my case, led directly to termination. I would strongly caution prospective employees to carefully consider these factors before accepting a position.
