Pros

Health Catalyst is a great place to work! Senior Leadership is very engaged with the employees and I believe they really try to make this a wonderful company to work for. They are always open to suggestions and feedback from the employees.

I was very disappointed when in July of 2020 all the 401K company match was done away with. I really wish there were other options that could have been explored and at least maybe cutting the employer match by only half. On the upside though as of November 2020 the 401K match will be re-instated at half of its original amount.

Thank you for your review and for your feedback generally as well as specific to the 401(k) match benefit. While we were grateful to be in a position, financially, to reinstate the match at the 3% level a little sooner than we had anticipated, we also acknowledge that this is not a full reinstatement, and as we've discussed in our all team member meetings, while we plan to increase the match further in the future, it will not likely be back to the same level, based on our benchmarking research. I recognize that this is net-negative news for team members, but appreciate our team members' willingness to listen to the rationale and the process by which we came to this decision, and then to keep moving forward together. The partnership between onshore and offshore teams works well and is a real strength. There’s a culture of grit and stability that has helped the company navigate multiple major transitions over the years. Mission-Critical Engineering: The work involves complex data infrastructure that requires deep technical expertise. It can be demanding, but seeing these systems run successfully and support real-world operations is consistently rewarding.

Wage Compression and Retention Risk: Compensation for tenured and high-performing staff has not kept pace with the market for specialized data engineering and support leadership. In practice, tenure can feel undervalued or even penalized. This creates risk around losing institutional knowledge and operational continuity. Stagnant Career Progression: Contrary to stated expectations, strong performance ratings do not consistently translate into meaningful, market-aligned compensation growth. The process of how compensation is benchmarked lacks clarity in practice, obscuring how compensation decisions are made and what is required to advance.
