Pros

The management is willing to try new things and do what it takes to grow the business. They are driven by numbers and results. You get freedom to do what is best for the client as long as you can manage the workload and make a business case. Work life balance is great and they will do what makes sense.

Kontras

HR is very slow in general and this takes the excitement out of the hiring process - perhaps to make you settle for a lower number. Bonuses are nothing to write home about. Lots of assumptions that you know what every other business unit is doing, even if you never heard of them.

Thank you for your comments. We definitely foster an environment of autonomy. We continue to look at our HR and hiring process and add resources as necessary. We also have worked hard to improve the overall understanding of Harris; verticals, business units, business model, and culture. We will keep this as a priority.

Great company to work for, though they are all about the next thing to acquire.

401K plan is a 'maybe we will match' type thing. Could be much better.

Pros

It (mostly) pays the bills. Your day to day experience will depend entirely on the business unit you are in and your localized management.

Kontras

Compensation is low. Their business model is just continuously acquiring established software companies, gutting them, and rebuilding them according to their model. Standard corporate experience. They will pay you as little as possible to retain you, and do things like changing the structure of HSA contributions to save a buck.
