Pros
Hager Sharp is a mission-driven organization that's working to maintain and/or repair its image in the social marketing space. The agency's new CEO has demonstrated her determination to correct the mistakes that tarnished HS's reputation in recent years, and instill processes that will help ensure the company's success in the years to come. Hager Sharp's client portfolio allows entry-level employees to gain experience in the nonprofit and government sectors and become proficient in the fundamentals of PR in a supportive learning environment. And, although the agency should work to continue to improve the diversity within its ranks--particularly at the senior level--HS is more inclusive than most PR shops in DC.
Kontras
The office's setup is not conducive to a collaborative work environment. Teams are set up based on a client's issue area, so many employees end up working with the same 4-5 colleagues on most client projects. HS's work/life balance is great, but compensation at the mid-level is lower than most of its competitors.
