Pros

Classes are valuable and informative. Individual offices have great personalities. The company is invested in the employees' education and experience.

Multiple managers give the same instructions. I received six emails/phone calls per day during the hiring process from different offices "checking in" on how things were going. One of the calls was before 6am. Kansas City doesn't communicate well with district offices; either that, or the district manager here blames her mistakes on Kansas City. The company sends multiple emails to personal email addresses, rather than company addresses, even after the employee no longer works for the company. Part-time employees have to endure the same extensive company training, in addition to tax education, each year, and the training is usually for minimum wage.

Pros

It’s a job and I hear they will hire anyone if you pass their tax class which they will most likely pay for because they treat their employees so bad that people drop like flies.

Only one bathroom at our location which is in a shopping center. Distract Manager does not care if you are a woman. He purposely schedules you alone and the creepy clients are allowed in the back room without supervision. I just had a client walk in on me because they refused to fix the lock until they sent someone back unattended in this creepy back hall way that goes to our restroom,. Sorry that happened to you, we fixed the lock but letting clients unattended in our back took and back door unattended is ok. That’s the email I got back from this dm.

Flexible availability. Path for promotion is obvious and quantified.

Kontras

Bonus/commission it is based on level and sales so is low in states without a state tax form. Hourly wage comes out of bonus. Pressure to sell items that don't add to your commission. They push customer surveys but you can be penalized if someone complains about the company, price, amount of emails etc even though you have no control. Some employees are frustratingly low quality and you will spend time helping or fixing their mistakes time that works against your commission. You are expected to answer phones, make appointments, scan, print, take money, help new comers all while maximizing returns. If you take over someone's client and find a mistake you are expected to work against your commission to file amendments peace of mind claims etc.
