Pros

My employment relationship with Grom began in 2002, at which time I served as a consultant for the organization. In 2010, I joined this firm as a regular, full-time employee and continue in this role today. I am proud to be associated with Grom, and my employment experience is very positive. I've not been constricted to a job title; I'm encouraged to continue to learn, grow, contribute and participate. Besides meaningful work, it's rare that a person can say they really work with a great group of individuals and genuinely mean it. I can say that, do say that, and am grateful to be part of this team!

Kontras

I would like to see more formal, corporate-wide communication. Grom has several offices, remote locations and virtual offices, and it would be good to join together on occasion for updates and state-of-the-union information. I expect the individuals working outside the main office would find it especially beneficial.

Pros

Enjoyable work culture and delicious gelato!

Kontras

Not many. Customers will test your strength sometimes but that’s any service job.

Pros

-Gelato is exceptional and made fresh almost daily with very high quality products from Italy -No 90 day probationary work period, employees are signed to a contract right away. -Company is dedicated to the highest level ingredients and best taste. -Impressive Recycling/low waste initiative and sustainable agriculture program. -Highly passionate Italian company with a clear vision and demonstrated success within the Italian region with 60+store chain. -Opportunity to move up very quick in a growing chain.

Kontras

-Clear disconnect between Italian and American core values & service practices, resulting in confusion of basic employee expectations for both management and employees. -Below average standards of employment for a high-end gelateria. -Almost exclusive reliance on Italian branch infrastructure with high level of disconnect from American Business practices/market. -Heavy reliance on mid-range management to make up for the lack of translated infrastructure. -Company practices predominantly trust-based, rather than result-based. -Employees in the North American region have no official hand book; training is trickle down and incomplete. -Highly-stagnant channel of communication when it comes to expressing concern for and seeking guidance on problems that cannot be solved by mid-range management.
