Pros
Amazing coworkers. Everyone here cares a lot. We get some of the perks of helping others like a nonprofit would, and some of the perks of compensation and benefits like working for a tech company. A lot of people have moved within the company, so career trajectories have historically been positive. Where we don't get the same salaries as some (otherwise awful to work for) tech giants, we do get unlimited PTO, good parental leave, and some other thoughtful benefits, plus the reality that we literally make people's lives better.
Kontras
Balancing "helping others" with running a for-profit business can be tricky. It isn't always completely obvious what the "right" thing is when altruism and business have to compromise. Also, our business is often tied to crises in the world, which can be stressful when there are constantly new crises popping up, often happening at the same time (natural disasters, shootings, a pandemic, etc), all around the clock.
