Human resources are severely stretched. Long-term career prospects are not good due to an apparent scarcity of opportunities for career progression. Furthermore, management do not actively support paid progression. Because of the heavy workload and limited resources, unpaid overtime is ingrained in the workplace culture. Regular work weeks of 40 hours can quickly increase to 50 or more. The pay is very low compared to Industry standards given the amount of effort and responsibility involved. Professional recognition and commendation are usually reserved for the longest-serving employees.
