Pros

As a graduate research assistant, the staff at Tech is very good about giving you the technology and equipment you need to get the job done. There are numerous computer software packages available to you for both work and home use, as well as providing an excellent grad student salary relative to the cost of living in Atlanta. Also, fees and insurance can be deducted from future paychecks over the term, rather than paying up front.

Kontras

The main downside that I found was having to pay 100% of the cost of health insurance, and this insurance not including dental coverage. Previous grad student employers of mine had included the cost of health insurance as part of the package. In addition, the fees left for us to pay are rather high compared with other schools. Full tuition is remitted, however fees and insurance typically leave the student employee with a bill of $1000 - $1200 per semester.

Pros

- Free Housing - Meal Plan - One of the better on campus job for students in my opinion (still able to be involved in other activities as a student on campus)

Kontras

- Duty part of the job (Being on call and getting late night lock outs but this is rare), and definitely can still do homework in between doing duty rounds - experience can also depend on your hall director / area (but regardless still served on great RA teams, can be great if you have a co-ra but also been good at time being a single RA on the floor (no need to coordinate schedule if you do events together as a single RA unless you alternate events with your co)
