Kontras
GA Tech is two different places – Academics/Research vs Campus Services, be VERY careful where you go. Toxic, destructive, punitive, dead-wood managers are tolerated. Innovation in even the smallest things is frowned upon. Epitome of gov’t bureaucracy, micromanaged environment, will kill your soul if you don’t GET OUT. People work in fear, whisper to each other in their cubes. Pay is well below market. Work rules enforced selectively, favoritism is tolerated. Telecommuting is far behind the times, restrictive, frowned upon. GA Tech has the technology in place, but managers don’t like it, so you can’t -- oh but THEY can. No technical development, even attending free lectures on campus is discouraged -- Work at GA Tech, but stagnate! Little contact with wonders of campus, most workers are cube dwellers: come to work, lunch in cube, go home -- no connection with WHY they are here – a great university. Final insult: Pay to work - $780 of your poor salary is taken back if you park in a campus lot – good luck NOT parking on campus!
