Pros
Coming to this agency, I was drawn to the amount of talent, the commitment to clients and their business (these folks REALLY care), and the overall nature of the teams. I have worked at a number of agencies where its the same song-and-dance and cookie cutter approaches across clients, Generator has some incredibly experienced and innovative staff that, even 11 years in the industry, I am still learning from. It's exciting. We have really good relationships with our partners that allow us to test and innovate with our clients, this is honestly not a priority in a lot of other media shops.
The teams are also really great to work with. COVID threw a lot of wrenches in a lot of gears and to be honest I feel that Generator did an outstanding job. We have a pretty good cloud-based set up that lets us all work from wherever, seeing other Generators from all over the country over video conference often is nice too. They also worked with me to get all of the equipment I needed, a couple monitors, and even a really nice office chair since my kitchen chair was getting really uncomfortable really fast. Those are some small examples, but it shows how much they care about their employees.
Agency culture is also really important to me, we do the typical virtual happy hours, and get-togethers, but we just started doing some health/fitness tracking competitions which I am really loving, gets me motivated to get out and move....COVID has added some unwanted pounds. We have also brought in a few new clients over the past months, that is always an exciting time to brainstorm and get together with my teammates.
Overall, I feel that I can do great work here, continue to grow in my practice and exposure to innovative media, and feel that I work for an agency that not only cares about my wellbeing but also is entrenched in the success of our clients as well.
Hard to find.
Kontras
I don't think that this is really a con because this is typical agency life and if you've worked at an agency before you can understand this: work gets very busy sometimes. Sometimes there are really late nights trying to get projects out, or you're running at a sprint to get some things out the door.
BUT there are other times that I've marked all of the things I wanted to get done that day by 3pm and I call up my team and have a beer.
Again, its agency life........I, personally, like it.
