Kontras
HR is difficult to deal with. She has her favorites and asserts her authority against those who are not her "favorite." She makes it well known that she is in control and will shut you out when speaking with you. She considers anything you have to say to be of very little importance. She will side with attorneys when dealing with work issues and work environment. I have seen a lot of good people leave because of her attitude toward older people. There have been other law firms with the same HR issue and have recognized the problem and replaced HR personnel. HR should be a person with whom staff can go to with problems and be treated fairly and with respect and be able to resolve not create a bigger problem.
Competitive pay and benefits. Recognition gatherings with lunch provided.
Kontras
Work is not evenly distributed between assistants. Some work through lunch while others browse the internet all day.
Assigned to several attorneys, many of which are high maintenance.
