Pros
If benefits are what you're looking to get, this is the place to be. The benefits are awesome! Can not go wrong here.
Kontras
But the benefits don't weigh out how you're treated here. Poor leadership in this department. If you're looking to get into the rentals department, I strongly suggest you read my review of how i was treated there. I have a strong background in Audio and Video and Photography, but lack Stage lighting among other things that I'm not familiar with. I was hoping to go in and learn and be guided to success but that didn't happen. I wasn't taught. i was expected to "just know" and master the whole department within 1 month's time. Everyone knows that anytime you get into a new position at a new company, there's bound to be a learning curve of the company's system and how they operate. 3 weeks in and I was already getting yelled at for the things I'm unfamiliar with their system. This so-called "Technical Trainer" is all that he is. Full of it. I give it to him that he's very knowledgeable about equipment but to lead and help employees grow, he is not that person. He is narrow-minded and doesn't like to be challenged to do better. It's his way or the highway and he will belittle you if you even question him at all. At full compass, you're not allowed to have a voice because if you do, you'll be bullied for responding. And that's how i was treated. You can't go to anyone because if you do, you're automatically considered the bad employee because they only look at their upper management as the good ones. Little does the owner know how he treats his employees. How was I treated? Upon new hire, I was supposed to get new shirts as a way of being welcomed. Instead of getting new shirts, this "technical trainer" went to dig up old smelly shirts in the closet that has been sitting there for months and told me that these were for me. So instead of complaining, I asked HR if I can buy new polo shirts. She had asked me why. I told her that the shirts that I got were old and smelly and I wish to buy new ones. She told me that I didn't need to buy new ones and she would order me new ones instead. Later that day, the Technical Trainer saw the email from HR and udder in a comment saying that she was wasting the company's money on getting me new shirts. What a way to welcome your new employees eh? This was early signs of a poor leader that I picked up on. These were among the many things that I was treated badly. This Technical Trainer has trust issues so he micro manages you to your death. But when you point out that he makes a mistake he points it right back at you that it was you who made the mistake. Well, you know what, I made the mistake because of the poor training I got. I'm supposed to "just know" Fair enough right? The rentals department was a total mess even before i got there and he expects me to "just know" without "teaching me." I'll be honest, there's a lot that I know but there is also a lot that I don't know. He's supposed to be the technical trainer but has no guidance. I had to beg to get some reference guide so that i can understand how the department operates because it was so disorganized. The inventory part numbers don't match what the physical inventory and you would have to ask. And anytime you ask, you would lose time because you aren't familair with their system. If management can't even create a simple guideline to follow, how are you going to expect your employees to follow your lead? No one wants to follow a leader who has no direction. There's a lot work that will need be done in order for this department to thrive.
