Pros
A lot of knowledge can be gained about many, many areas (even outside of your field), a very diverse pool of people, fair pay.
Kontras
Seemingly unstructured, at times not a clear idea of who really reports to who, performance assessments/reviews need to have more emphasis and when they do more thought needs to be put into them, can be very hard to work with certain people or upper-levels (stubborn mindsets), very old school in many areas making it difficult for change. On that same note, if you're a younger person (<30) it seems you will not have much reputability.
