Pros

The layoff was a bit nerve wracking but also understandable. Engineering Leadership, while incredibly smart, was not what it could and should be. It was disorganized; priorities weren't clear, no project planning prior to the start of the quarter/project, an overall lack of communication, and a lack of manpower. Since new leadership has come in, there has been a strong push to make known any and all issues that were had previously in an effort to improve the departments health and make the engineers heard. There are more established processes now, bi-weekly engineering meetings to discuss openly, meetings with upper management and the department to discuss priorities (ranking priorities to allow for flexibility), better communication between teams, more autonomy to the teams themselves, and more man-power. There were also promotions within and a push to reorg Product. Engineering and Product now have more say in the direction our platform is heading, and theres a clearer idea of what it will become. Smart, curious coworkers across all departments, although especially the analysts. Great benefits, location, culture, and rewarding work. Your work is fighting crime. Relevant technologies and great engineering practices with CD/CI, Cloud, Testing, etc.

Kontras

Growing startup with normal communication and management pains. Matching 401k would be nice. Set salary bands.

Pros

If you're new to cyber intel, and are looking for a place to learn, this is where you want to be. Your mileage may vary depending on what team you're on within the intel department, but as a whole it's filled with some wonderful people who are great at fostering and encouraging growth. As long as you put in work and go beyond the bare minimum, that will be recognized and appreciated. If there's anything that you think looks interesting, all you need to do is ask somebody, and you can get involved.

Kontras

The salary here is pretty low for the industry, and pay raises and promotions tend to come slowly. While this is a great place to learn about cyber intel, you can only grow so much here, and you will eventually hit a point where you've reached that limit and need to move on. That's something I saw happen time and time again, and Flashpoint has lost a lot of amazing people because of it.
