No say/choice in what times to work for shifts 20 min unpaid break for up to 9 hours shift. 1hr break for 10hr shift. Other concession brands at the store get 1hr for 7hr shift, and 1.5 hr for 10 hr shift. Another brand I know gives 1hr break for 6hr shift. With the bag check, clock in/out system, the break is essentially non existent. Don't even think of leaving the store for buying your food. Managers were nice at the start before opening of new store, lied to staff about pay (no pay on the 30th Nov, got pay in 30th Dec) in order to prevent staff from leaving, because who will do the manual lifting, grunt work, and setting up the new store. Made to clean toilets, break room and managers room/office from 9-10pm. Yes, you read right. Despite nowhere in the contract does it state that this is part of the job. The job is sales assistant, not cleaner. Not manual worker. Close colleague/friend suffered unnecessary verbal abuse for not cleaning the toilets on their own and did it with another colleague. Of course, for not allowing cellphones on the shop floor, there is no proof of this. Favouritism is a cheap venture. Will guilt trip you for being sick beyond your control and not coming into work, and will not let you go home. Double standards. Get reprimanded for chatting with colleagues, but managers can chat within the vicinity of our viewpoint whenever they want. No formal training given and is expected to know how the tills work. Was talked down by a manager for not using a scanner to validate bank notes on the first day at the tills.
