Pros

Great staff... the team on the floor are amazings. They help, eager to support you, and eager to be social and a team. Compensation and benefits overall rating is 2.8 / 5, with a 2% improvement year-over-year, which is below inflation rates. GENERAL workplace satisfaction of employees are overall satisfied generally a positive working experience.

Kontras

The CONS? Kinda loud. The culture gets called “toxic” a lot. Think cliquey, "mean girl" vibes at the top. Leadership enjoys micromanaging, hard. There’s this weird double standard with remote work ... some execs are fully remote, others get one day a week. Other reviews say turnover is high and middle management is constantly burning out. People have called out public yelling from leadership. Policies? Inconsistent. Structure? Kinda messy. Also: compensation isn’t at ALL in line with Vancouver’s cost of living. Competitive salary is 20K below industry standards. In US, Toronto, Calgary... If you're good with drama and chaos in exchange for a paycheck and "startup" experience, cool. If you're looking for stable leadership and healthy culture... maybe not it. Final note: They are NOT a startup... they haven't increased their employee numbers for about 4-6 years.

Pros

Hadn't heard of affiliate marketing before but wanted to get a jump-start on my career in marketing and working with big brands, so when Fintel offered me the position I jumped at it. At Fintel I had access to working with great brands, got to work in the fintech space, and got start-up experience. Company offers good benefits, flexible schedule, fun team activities, and a supportive culture.

Kontras

Had a lot of change in accounts I was managing, needed to keep up with different markets and products that change quite a bit. Also had some turnover on the team which put pressure on rest of us. Would like to be able to work with other departments and input into the tech a bit more, but understand it's tough with such a full roadmap.

Good benefits package. Good location in downtown Vancouver.

When the most recent positive reviews praise the company's leadership while calling past employees "spoiled," it's loud and clear who the author is. If you're considering applying, read all of the reviews thoroughly. This will give you the most accurate depiction of what it's like to work there. Many of those voices are from team members across departments over the last few years. Their stories are true and valid. I have witnessed with my own eyes the troubling incidents and poor behaviours they've referenced. It's disappointing to see the company attempt to invalidate their experiences by dismissing it as a character flaw. I understand the need for this company to rehab its image if they ever do want to be acquired, but that's not the way to salvage a reputation. If you're reading and are in the application process, take that into consideration. You can decide for yourself if it's worth working at this type of startup.
