Pros

Hardworking coworkers - associates. Excellent opportunities for relocation. Diverse company, so there are many different aspects of the business that offer opportunity. Huge network of Distribution Centers, so getting material is very fast.

Kontras

Benefits could be far better for size of employee base/company. Ferguson self insures and Blue Cross administers, so the company profits on 'providing' insurance to it's own employees. Most all associates are oblivious to this fact. Corporate management is disconnected to the actual day-to-day customer base and what they expect of Ferguson. The company continually runs on low staff levels, by design, to keep labor costs low. This is a great way to overwork and burn out associates. Market Credit Managers are no longer onsite, so telling a high profile customer that there is no one in the credit department to speak to personally and they need to call an 800 number is pretty insulting. You will be told "our assocaites are our most valuable asset" which is very true, but management actions don't follow through on this claim. Create strong work boundaries or else you will be overwhelmed. Ferguson is a 'whale' in Newport News, VA but they need to realize the entire country isn't Newport News.

Pros

None, I would say remote work but it’s very toxic.

Kontras

Poor leadership (manager and director), poor communication, poor training, unrealistic m expectations, micromanagement, no SOPs, lack of structure, FLSA violations, no upfront disclosure of what role is, stingy management. People outside of HR are great. In HR? They’re happy to lay people off and talk about it so casually during meetings. Think “it’s our yearly layoffs” and joking about catching people “slipping”. No opportunities for growth despite saying there was during interviews. Interview and reality are worlds apart. No diversity. Severe control issues. No new people have been hired in over 3 years yet multiple people have left so people are burnout. One person handles all of one process alone and management thinks that’s ok. For reference the same process takes 10-11 associates in the same sized org. I can go on. Stay away!!!
