Pros

I have worked for FDG for 5+ years and I honestly do not recognize the company that many of the reviewers are describing below. I have had a positive experience and the company seems to truly care about their employees both personally and professionally, it is a flexible environment (added flexibility came after the return from the pandemic), good benefits and my coworkers, Supervisor and Directors are supportive and down to earth. Unless I am completely oblivious, people seem genuinely happy and enjoy their jobs.

Kontras

There are pros and cons in every job but the pros at FDG far outweigh the cons for me. The design industry is fast paced and deadline driven and FDG is no different. You have some weeks that you have to put in some extra hours but it always tapers off after the due date and my coworkers always jump in to help where they can. FDG is always trying to improve to be the best so if you want a place that excepts status quo this probably isn't the best place for you.

Pros

Little to no overtime. Easy projects. Elevated sense of design for some projects. Excellent work life balance and awesome healthcare dental benefits. CEO is passionate about helping the less fortunate and will encourage employees to contribute to worthy causes. Generally pleasant colleagues with several people having tenure. Great view of highland park and downtown Dallas from every angle in office. Lots of employee appreciation events. CEO preaches gratitude and encourages others to self reflect on positives of work and life.

Kontras

Upper management, with exception of one director and CEO, difficult to work with. Some of the ‘fun’ activities are a little odd to see in corporate environment, such as sharing hotel rooms with other employees. Technology outdated, with support outsourced and activity closely monitored to prevent an unlikely scenario of corporate espionage. No remote work capacity. Extreme paranoia about employees having samples of work for portfolio even when a written request is made. Some projects are great examples of mass produced recycled designs. Frequent employee turnover, likely due to factors above. Not much room for vertical career growth and salary increases, likely because that money is allocated to employee appreciation events, odd ‘fun’ events, and lavish lifestyle of C-suite.
