Pros
This is the first privately owned and operated company I've worked for, and I've been here for a few years now. It was a bit of a culture shock conversing and collaborating with the owner on a daily basis rather than not even knowing the his/her name. But I think that's also one of this company's greatest strengths. New, green employees knowing upper management and vice versa creates a closer sense of community and accessibility when it gets to be crunch time. It also means that fresh, new employees have the ability to rise in the company just as much as veterans because they operate from a different perspective and are assets to the company for different reasons, which keeps mid-management in check. Nobody here gets to keep a job just because they've had that job for a while or have worked here a long time, which I think creates an great sense of balance and accountability. Those who do their job will receive their paycheck, and those who stay late, offer good ideas, and volunteer for more projects get rewarded with raises, promotions, and/or bonuses accordingly. Here's some other pros: - 401k available - Benefits are offered - Sick and vacation days are now combined into one lump number, so nobody needs to lie about why they're taking the day off to use sick time vs vacation, which works great for me because I never get sick :P
Kontras
The company is growing at a very fast rate, so it would be a good idea to either move part of the company to another office location or everyone to a larger office... Preferably with more parking...
