Pros
Health/Vision/Dental, 401k match, PTO. If you're lucky, you get a couple breaks throughout the day and a gold star for trying to meet unattainable sales goals and metrics. Spiffs that may or may not be paid. Commission plan is O.K. and varies based on performance and whatever changes are necessary for the company. You can work remote or in office if you're local. Teammates are pretty chill and always there to help. . Ah! The company merch is nice, I do like that it says "Better together" despite everyone being in different states or leaving the company. Your sales manager is available most of the day to assist with any issue you may have through a virtual meeting room in which you are expected to remain every single work day, 8 hours a day, for the remainder of your time with the company. Company encourages you to take mental health days (whatever those are). Oh and the usual empty promises about room for growth and professional development. "Promote from within". Overall, I would recommend if you desperately need a job and don't mind people constantly breathing down your neck. (5 stars for visibility)
Kontras
Base salary is low compared to other major companies, in fact other companies are paying about 20% more and offer unlimited PTO. Other companies also offer detailed and in depth training for different insurance carriers and products whereas here there is a brief overview and then you are directed to refer to a certain website and review if you have any questions. If you seem to challenge anything concerning policies, procedures, decisions, or the company; you may not be there for long… even if it's something that puts your insurance license at risk. It is seen as unprofessional and negative. If you speak up about anything, you will be blacklisted and management will start to micromanage and limit any and all opportunity for growth within the company. They only provide opportunity after opportunity to those that are willing to do whatever it takes to meet their unattainable goals. I.e. : paying for positive reviews, refusing to sell certain insurance products/coverages, and sales managers ignore any requests for assistance, etc. Employee retention has consistently dropped. (I have no clue where these people went.) Frequent team restructuring due to high turnover. Some of the best agents just disappeared. No snack box in the mail like other companies, no regular stipends for internet, no team building activities. Comp plan changes frequently. Despite the industry being tough, management is tougher. Most managers claim to be there if you need anything but are overall very monotone and detached. Lack of transparency, lack of autonomy, lack of empathetic management. the 4-5 star reviews are so sketchy because they're all posted within the same time frame. Customers may be rude at times, but that comes with the job.
