It is a very low stress environment. Lots of intellectual nourishment for young engineers. A great place to learn the ropes. The people are cordial and you will quickly build a feeling of camaraderie with your co-workers.

Your career will die a slow death from neglect. The turnover among mid-level employees has historically been higher than average. This becomes evident when you see how many senior level engineers at competing firms started at EBDG. You WILL be underpaid. You will have to fight tooth and nail to keep your career growth goals on track. Expect a lot of resistance when you express the desire to take on more responsibilities. The management seems to fear handing over the keys to the proverbial car. Alas... they aren't getting any younger. The company's president, Joe Pritting, is a nice guy which is why it pains me to say how woefully ill-equipped he is to be a leader. Prior to being the president he was the company's accountant. He was a good accountant but he cannot speak knowledgeably about engineering or the maritime industry and his role as president adds no value to the company's services. That would be OK if he could at least inspire his team or get them motivated to back a common goal. Sadly he can do neither. If you have any prior military experience you will constantly be biting your tongue around Joe because you will have known scores of men and women who are infinitely more qualified and who will never earn 1/5 of what Joe does. Watching Joe stumble through his weekly company meetings was painful to the point that I stopped attending. If Joe was abducted by aliens tomorrow the business would plug along without missing a beat. The only thing he DOES add is a significant indirect burden to the shoulders of all the employees who generate billable work.
