Pros
Your clients are excellent resources during and after employment. Build a good report with them and they will treat you well later down the road. Great opportunity to develop time management and route management skills. Note: management will try to tell you the job is like running your own business (to be fair it does have many elements that relate to this) but see cons. Many opportunities for advancement if your managers give you the opportunity (you will most likely have to go over their head to make things happen).
Kontras
In the pest elimination division, a majority of managers have a military or law enforcement background. Unless you unfamiliar with military heirarchy and mentallity, be prepared to get shocked by ridiculous management decisions and treatment. If you work a nightshift, be prepared to loose sleep as you will have to answer customer calls during the daytime to stay on top of your route. Management will call you and coerce you into doing job related functions that are not necessary, and often harmful to your paycheck and business (my personal experience was having my route handed over to a new employee after I built up a strong report with all of my clients, and had a steady paycheck that I could estimate) A majority of your paycheck is based on commisions, so if management offers to give you a new route after you have built up your current route, tell them to F-off, it's a trick and it will make your life hell.
