Pros
-Overseas production personnel such as project managers, DTP and Engineering have a positive attitude. -Mostly competitive in pay structure and compensation.
Kontras
-There was only one Western minded leader at the company with no authority. This was problematic in a Western country when he was the only one genuinely qualified to lead in the whole organization. -Very Eastern minded (China) in how business is conducted which should be cause for concern for Western employees and clients. Philosophy is more about cutting corners than anything else and that always comes first. -Cheaper is always better to a China based owner. Had mentality of throwing cheap manual labor at the work even if the quality of work/life balance or work suffers for it. This includes ultra conservative allowances for local support staff which we had none. -Other than my direct manager's efforts to properly brand the company here in the USA, there was no sophistication in presented client solutions, there are no unified teams in terms of approach or account management between the West and the East. This causes two different types of businesses to be formulated: 1.) Untrained China staff with whom was mostly spamming and telemarketing. 2.) USA team providing consultative/solutions based practices to add value and integrity to the plan. -Short sightedness in every decision being made when it was dictated from China and pressurized through my boss. -From my perspective, the CEO does not empower his leaders to govern or manage. -No production staff during Western based hours -Much of the staff does not speak at the level of English necessary for Global business which creates numerous obstacles and communication issues. -People are treated like commodities and environment does not foster continuous growth or any kind of balance if you want to be successful. -Outside of my manager, everyone who was Western minded and senior level enough in the localization industry has either been let go or have left themselves because the environment is truly toxic. -Ownership takes no responsibility for its own shortcomings in a very competitive industry. -Forced to adapt to Chinese culture instead of adapting to American based hiring practices and motivators. -Waste of time to work here and hope it fundamentally changes.
