Pros

My team and immediate bosses are fantastic and a joy to work with. My supervisor is good about working with you to get you opportunities to grow and cross train.

Kontras

Pay raises are coupled to promotions. There is a new CEO who wants to micro manage things like promotions, and he is pretty stingy with them. There is resistance to breaking silos. There is a culture of working extra hours, which makes it hard to get promoted for pay raises if you don't work beyond the 40hrs/wk regularly as expected. This culture stems from senior management setting unrealistic timelines for projects based on their wants rather than researched and discussed with responsible parties and project leaders. PTO is not very well respected, you have to be pretty firm in setting and enforcing your boundaries or people will abuse your willingness to work on PTO. The overdriven culture to complete project goals on unrealistic timeliness leaves little to no time to work on personal growth and development outside of the high priority deadlines.

Pros

Exposed to a lot of different software and tools. Team culture is decent (depending on what area you're in).

Kontras

Pay is so bad - Dycom stock is up over 200% in the last 5 years and merit increases are between 3% to 3.5%. They see us as headcount and not as human being with families. They do not pay bonuses unless you're a manager or higher. Resources are lean. They are not hiring or promoting in IT department. Communication between departments could use a lot of work.
