Starting from my perspective, I think it’s okay to take on extra tasks, but there should be fair compensation that matches the market average. The work here is a lot harder than at other companies, and the salary is lower too. The managers and executives are really good at convincing employees to do more work than they’re being paid for compared to other places, saying it's all about skill development and growth. That’s not entirely wrong, but it can feel a bit exploitative. If you don’t think too much about it, or look at it optimistically, you might easily fall for their pitch and not realize that the salary you're getting is really the "market value." Also, some of my friends here have even been told by doctors that they’re stressed out from working too much.
The execs like to say that employees here are paid in line with "market value." But from what I’ve seen, people with fewer skills than me at other companies are actually earning more. Even when I interviewed at other reputable companies and mentioned my salary here, they all agreed that it was too low for the work I was doing. That really opened my eyes and gave me a new perspective on work and salary in this field.
It’s been over a year since I left, and I feel so much better now that I’ve moved to a new company. Even though there have been some busy periods (which is pretty normal in any job) But my salary is now much higher, and it actually matches the work I’m doing.
