Pros

Remote work and some very good people are still there. Pay is decent and unlimited PTO is a plus until you get laid off.

Kontras

New President and CTO are just horrible to work for. The company went from the collaborative amazing culture to one of micro management overnight. Initiative is now met with scolding and eventual termination. Employees that built the company and know it's customers needs are completely ignored and given no input on the future product. While friends (who all fit a very specific profile) are put in charge on day 1. CEO seems nice, tells you how valuable you are to the company, promises raises, and gives stock options to retain employees, then lays them off 4 months later, This happened to a group of older, tenured employees.

Pros

The company has been around for a long time and the main product is being rebuilt from the ground up as an AI-first platform. Encouraged to build personal software. Leadership stays close to the code/data rather than pure people-management. Real technical variety via OCR/document AI, invoice processing, observability, infra. Everyone is setting SLAs, tuning alerts, and doing root-cause work on live incidents, which is a lot of trust/autonomy. Using document AI / OCR for invoice processing, feedback loops for extraction accuracy, not just bolting on AI as a marketing feature. Working on billing/invoice disputes/supplier data means your work visibly ties to revenue and customer trust, not abstracted from impact.

Kontras

Some legacy integration debt. Certain outbound integrations are one-off/custom rather than reusable APIs, but these are quickly being replaced by our new platform.

Pros

Leadership is experienced, transparent, and genuinely invested in the company's direction. You always know where things are headed and why. The team is small and collaborative — no politics, no fluff. Everyone cares about the product and the customers it serves. The product is something you can get behind. Direct Commerce is solving a real problem in AP automation with a differentiated take, real customers, and a clear roadmap. Roles aren't rigidly defined, which means ownership is there for the taking if you bring ideas and do the work. Flexibility and work-life balance are both solid.

Kontras

Like any company at this stage, some processes are still being built out. If you need everything to be perfectly systematized before you can do your job, it might feel uncomfortable at first. But if you're comfortable with some ambiguity and like building things, that's actually part of the appeal.
