Pros
- Highly skilled engineers - Great office with modern amenities and located in City Centre - competitive salary - you can pick the machine you want to work on Mac, Windows, Linux etc. - great benefits
Kontras
1. People constantly do overtime because "the client needs this", no extra pay or time off in lieu. No pressure but we're going to "hold the release for this". Also when I brought this up during "Town Hall" they said that no IT company pays extra for overtime or gives time off in lieu 😅 2. Slow CI, takes roughly 2h to merge a PR if nothing fails randomly! Some people checked their PRs before going to bed, next day was feature freeze! 3. Little or no idea/strategy on how to on-board Sw Engineers (at least when I started) 4. You always have to work on some ticket, there's no time to learn something new related to your work if it doesn't have to do with your current ticket. Give people some time for professional development, it will pay off in the long run! 5. Lots of people come from academia and I'm not sure that they know people have lives outside work so if you're looking for life-work balance this is not your place. Ofc, it's amazing to be 100% on as a scientist but this is a business so the workload for people needs to be manageble in the given time frame. 6. No documentation for source code, good luck figuring things by yourself or asking a colleague to attempt and explain something properly Overall working here wasn't the most pleasant experience, it could have been better!
