From day one, working at Development Pathways raised red flags. From the inappropriate and negative comments shared by the CEO and his wife, who heads HR, about other colleagues, to the trench warfare-like atmosphere of colleagues venting to each other to find a brief respite from the high levels of anxiety, burnout, staff turnover and workload. Some senior leaders did the best to shield junior staff from the CEO's tendency to point fingers whenever things went wrong and their insistance on focusing on the bad rather than taking a reflective, lessons learned approach. It is ironic that an organisation working to embed inclusive social protection systems is characterised by discrimination, blatant favouritism, bullying, questionable workplace practices and toxic behaviour which anyone would be shocked to encounter in a 21st Century work environment.

Pros

The work is meaningful and often intellectually engaging, with opportunities to collaborate with specialists in their fields. Colleagues are dedicated and passionate about what they do.

Kontras

High staff turnover, inconsistent and POOR management practices, and a lack of clear processes. There appears to be a culture where favouritism can influence decision-making, and staff who are not aligned with internal dynamics, get pushed out.
