Pros

It's some form of employment? If you are there in the mornings you can help yourself to the hot breakfast provided to the guests as part of their stay. More complimentary pens have walked off in employee handbags than have been taken by guests. As Days Inn locations are independently owned and operated, you might find a better working experience at another facility.

Kontras

This location offers twenty cents over minumum wage as the starting pay for their Housekeepers and it's a wonderful form of deception to make you think you're working someplace better than average. What you will actually get is a place that is horribly understaffed by people who care nothing at all for the quality of their job performance (you'll understand why their employee turnover is so high after reading this), chronically lacking in even basic supplies, barely trains their staff on the minimum requirements of the job followed by not checking to make sure their employees are even adhering to those minimal guidelines; they do not hold any of their employees to the extensive list of standards and rules they have to initial and sign for in their employment contracts EXCEPT highly selectively (e.g. anyone who actually does their job correctly or is not part of any of their cliques), there's a list of rules regarding requesting days off which is only applied to certain employees - in fact, anything and everything about this job is only ever selectively enforced. They promote less-than-qualified people to higher positions based on who they know instead of someone willing and able to actually do the job, even to the point of promoting those with poor reviews to higher positions simply based on the fact that they are friendly with their superiors. Should you ever have some form of conflict with another employee, not only do I wish you good luck in getting your supervisor to do anything about it, much less even listen to you, but it will be cause for the person wronged to be blacklisted and have their already short hours cut down even further in retaliation. You will also suddenly find that your work supplies will be missing, your assignments will be the worst of the lot, and if you fall behind you won't recieve any help but will still be expected to drop everything and help other people. Also it would be wise not to bring in any more personal items than absolutely necessary - things will go missing and management's response is a shrug of the shoulders and a "That sucks." Speaking of management, if you ever need to talk to them about any issue, well... Don't bother. Not only do they make themselves as physically inaccessable as possible, but should they even be on the grounds at any time they'll make sure to avoid interacting with you at all costs. Their response to issues from employees is the same as their responses to legitimate complaints from guests: an insincere apology and a promise to "look into it" and in neither case will anything be done. I've heard more laughter at the guest complaint list than at most live comedy shows. Don't bother asking to speak to upper management about ANYTHING as not only will the local manager refuse to give you any way in which to contact them, but upper management will just tell you it's the local manager's problem to deal with. In regards to pay raises, well, it's not worth working towards one - who recieves a raise is pre-determined long before their employee evaluations happen (which is on a jam tomorrow schedule of "soon") and is based upon who is more friendly and/or popular with management and not your actual job performance. When they actually do perform an employee evaluation it's only about every two or three years or so, so if you somehow manage to last there that long, congratulations to you but you're probably not going to get a raise, or indeed any other form of recognition. There is, quite literally, no incentive to do a good job, much less an excellent one. It will only lead to retaliation and backlashes, having your hours cut, your days off denied (or they will try to call you in on those days and call you off every other day), tips that are left expressly for you will never be given to you; you will be required to compensate for your co-workers failing to do their jobs yet held responsible for THEIR mistakes, made to do work that is outside the parameters of your position, generally treated like garbage, and completely ignored when you have a legitimate complaint or issue that needs to be addressed. P.S. The one star review is only there because I am unable to submit this with anything LESS.
