My advice: mind your business, do your job as described, and go home. The benefits are not good, very expensive and cover nothing. During orientation they tell you about how progressive and equitable the City of Dallas is, but the majority of the people working there are openly racist, homophobic, ableist etc. to customers and coworkers alike. Management just let's it happen. There is a lot of favoritism. People with more experience are passed up in order to promote friends and family. When COVID hit they laid off a lot of workers or forced them to be home without getting paid, and we were told we would not be getting any raises for three years, maybe more.
