Your skills is your concern. Senior management is hypocritical and is out of touch with the consultants and their needs. They just do not listen to your concerns and brush them away. Project methodologies are often not followed properly, day-to-day management is chaotic, consultants are to be blamed for many things. If on bench, you would grab any opportunity to get out, even below your skill level.
