Pros
I don't have much to share in terms of pros, as my stay at this company was short (less than 3 months). The one redeeming quality of this place is that they have a handful of smart and talented people who, I think, should utilize their skills at a workplace with better leadership, management and values.
Kontras
The work-life balance just doesn't exist in this company. You will be treated as a slave, nobody here is going to respect the fact that you might have a life outside of work. The leadership doesn't care about anyone below them in the corporate hierarchy. In fact, on the day of my resignation, the boss didn't even know that I hadn't showed up to work in the last two weeks and that I am actually leaving the company.
Now, to get specific, I got severely bullied by my manager. I believe that this person has dreamt of having a position of power for their last 40 years, and finally got carte blanche. Gaslighting, manipulation, abuse of power — this person's hands were tied loose during these three months. Why? Because THEIR manager is in the Czech Republic. No one here to stop them.
There were days when I would experience multiple panic attacks at my workplace.
Spoke to the manager about it. They promised to take it to HR. They never did that. I took it to HR. They didn't do anything.
When, on my way back home, my leg started twitching, and I couldn't stop it, I realized that I must stop this to save my health.
On my last day, when I asked if perhaps there's a similar position at another department where I could be transferred I was told that there's no such position. Checked the jobs listing at RFE/RL. There was a position exactly like that.
I'm pretty positive I can now write a book about this experience. I would probably have to spend all the money on therapy, though.
