Pros
Flexible schedule. Job security. Pretty good benefits. Decent pay but better when actually get raises. Employees went many years without raises for union negotiated job security. Can be family oriented and caring about obligations outside of work. Often left alone to get the work done with little communication, which could also be a con as there was a lot of ambiguity.
Kontras
Often dysfunctional workplace being subjected to bad behavior and lack of leadership knowledge. They make up their own rules and don't even acknowledge employees hard work on a regular basis or what the pain points are. Play favorites with certain employees. Hard to know who was leading and responsible for certain project areas.
Pay raise freezes, poor annual review process, lack of growth potential, clicky environment, odd employees who can't even bother to say hello and often want to be left alone, silo working, chaotic and confusing work environment.
