Where to begin - my life as an agent was forever changed the moment I walked through the doors of Compass 2 years and 3 months ago. I didn't realize I was lacking in personal and professional alignment until I experienced the culture that is Compass real estate. Real estate isn't know to be a light and fluffy industry - in fact the exact opposite is true. Many people regard an experience they had with a broker to be a negative one, or that the industry as a whole is out to get them. I can understand those frustrations, being in the industry and experiencing that myself first hand. Compass is a human company, backed by a love filled CEO who's Mom (a rock star agent who raised Robert as a single mother after her family and Robert's father disowned them when he was born) even works here. Imagine for one moment working along side someone who's love for the industry, entrepreneurs, thoughtful solution finding and disrupting the status quo was sparked there. There is a trickle down effect that happens here, our C-suite is reachable and eager to help solve our problems so we can help solve our clients' problems. The engineers, product designers, our marketing gurus (every agent is assigned a marketing expert to help them) and agent support teams are not only available to us but actively take a proactive approach to working together collaboratively to build this plane as we fly it, reacting to actual first hand experiences and helping discover solutions before something arises. Yes at the end of the day we are a brokerage, anyone can hold my license and I could pay any firm a portion of my commission to get legal and marketing advice from. I am happy to be able to give a piece of the hard earned deals that I bring in to a company that not only expresses they believe in me but has shown me they want to help me, so that I can do my job in helping positively impact my corner of the world. I came from a large very well known firm prior to Compass. I was lucky to receive a real estate schooling there so to speak, but nothing compares to the hands on care, level of enthusiasm, expertise and authenticity that I experience at Compass from the other agents, management and support teams. I've elected a portion of my income to go to a program here called the Agent Equity Program for the 2 years that Compass has offered this to us. Let's just pause there - Compass feels so passionately about their agent and staff bodies that they are allowing us the option to own a piece of this company. I am grateful to be here.

We are facing some of the same problems that I think a lot of start ups face. While growing very quickly there were some foundational cracks in some of our technology and tools that are now being addressed - as long as you submit the feedback to the company. Things will not magically get fixed overnight, but if you take the time to express if something isn't working or a work flow could be better, Compass makes a point to address it which is unheard of in our industry. We are a growing tech firm trying to do things outside of the box which can be a blessing and a curse in any industry / situation. If the industry didn't need some "fixing" we wouldn't be here, so successfully. I would say that is my one con, and I feel truly that the company is not only aware but taking action around it.
