Coderyte was a great place to work. The location was ideal, right in the center of Bethesda on the 8th floor with great views. The technology was fun and interesting and the people at Coderyte were some of the best people I've worked with. A lot has changed with 3m's acquisition. There isn't as much fun there anymore, but it's a good, secure job, with good pay and without a lot of stress.

For starters, CodeRyte doesn't exist anymore. After 3m purchased CodeRyte, a lot of the fun was replaced with security and benefits. Which I guess is nice, but the new location is in the middle of nowhere, and most people spend half of their day in meetings, doing six sigma projects, filling out reviews or goals or tracking time.

NLP and the ability to both code and extract meaningful information from unstructured data could truly be a revolutionary development, particularly under ICD-10, increased focus on evidence based medicine and health reform. Truly an exciting time, and opportunity is there for 3M to invest and leverage. CodeRyte may have reached too far trying to go from radiology to inpatient coding, but as part of 3M the opportunity is certainly there.

Unfortunately, the technology will need further investment in order to achieve its full potential. It is unclear how disruptive 3M will choose to be in making investments and taking business risks in this area, particularly when it could disrupt their core offerings.
