Pros
I got to teach kids how to code and watch them grow intellectually, which is rewarding since I don't have kids. Establishing solid relationships with the parents was also nice.
Kontras
It's a franchise, so corporate doesn't get their hands in any matters where they should. The position itself is great, but due to the owner's lack of respect, fairness and their cheapness, everyone at the location I worked at made less than others at different locations. After getting the Center Director position, they kept me at 8 dollars an hour for the entire summer (because I went into overtime and they didn't want to pay me anything extra) while claiming that they "didn't have enough time" to do it week after week after week. The Code Sensei's themselves should have been paid $10 an hour, the Center Director should have been paid significantly more than what they gave me. They expected me to live as if Code Ninjas was my entire life, making me do things with little to no instruction when I asked, and then making me redo them when my work wasn't what they expected. I think if I would have work at any other location, I could possibly still be there today.
