Pros
I reported directly to our CEO, Ingrid Constantine on a contract with the US Army. She didn't micromanage me and entrusted me to do my job without oversight and she went to bat for me on more than one occasion and that meant a lot to me. The salary was the highest I'd made in my career up until now (95/year) and the 401k was a 100% match up to 4% with a 33% vestment per year of employment on their end. I never had to work more than a 40-hour work week as well. Working with the military we had several holidays off.
Kontras
Offsetting the great base pay, was the middling insurance. We're through UHC and I'm on the cheapest plan, an HDHP plan and I was getting $350 deducted for the health coverage every check (semi-monthly) for the family plan and it's not particularly good coverage until after the deductible is met (which I never hit). For employees with less than 5 years with the company the PTO was only 10 days a year with an accrual per check plus an accrual of 5 sick days a year. This I feel is maybe average and not particularly a con.
The biggest con, and the reason I'm leaving at the end of this week is the current instability in the government. With DOGE and budget cuts happening all over the place, I had to leave for job security. Prior to the current administration things were much more stable, but that's a con of the industry and not specific to CoSolutions specifically.
