Pros

Coworkers are great on a personal level. Most are easy to get along with, and they all came to work for a mission. 25 days PTO + holidays is nice

Kontras

- Strategy changes constantly in every department. Leaders will forget the strategy they set for the week or month, then blame employees for acting on the newest piece of information - Sales reps don't get communicated their goals until mid-month, and we're asked to lie about the quality of tools to users. Consequently, the reps who do lie and close bad deals are seen as "rockstars," and the rest of the team is left to deal with unhappy users - Leadership has a bias towards men. They play favorites and make no attempts to hide it - Leaders complain about culture, but when they come into the office, most will stare at their computers and make no efforts to engage. This excludes the CEO, who does make an effort to individually speak to everyone when he is in the offices - On the other hand, CEO said on a company-wide call that he doesn't believe in work-life balance, and that he wants people who are 100% committed to Choco - Pay is terrible. There's really no sugar-coating that. And goals are restructured constantly to make it increasingly difficult to achieve 100% - Senior leaders in HQ will point the finger at anyone but themselves. Refuse to acknowledge their poor management, strategy, or even weaknesses of the technology itself as a potential reason for failure. Without fail, the blame lands on individual employees' efforts, intelligence, or abilities. At the end of the day, they only care about padding numbers to look good to investors. They force their expectations on you with an iron fist, with no room for discussion or disagreement. Drink the kool-aid and pretend everything's fine, or be considered a low performer.

Thanks for sharing your insights and it is nice to read you valued our benefits, camaraderie among coworkers, and the CEO's active engagement. We firmly recognize the importance of dedication to our mission in building a strong and engaged team, however, we don’t compromise on our well-being, being fair and customer-centricity. At Choco, we trust and empower our team members to take ownership of their schedules, prioritize what matters most, and speak up when we need to do better. This is further supported by our company policies, including taking 25 PTO days, a one-month paid sabbatical after four years of service, remuneration based on a compensation framework, and quarterly development checks. Thanks again for leaving your feedback and we wish you all the best in your future endeavours.

Pros

Decent benefits Some great, smart, dedicated colleagues Clients are real, family owned businesses and the product can actually help them

Kontras

HR operates with a veneer of caring for the employees but actually is the coldest, most uncaring HR department Ive worked with. Poor planning (amateurish) saw several rounds of layoffs including very skilled and tenured reps just for similar roles to need to be filled a couple months later and HR unavailable to find qualified candidates. Lead to underutilized resources and lagging growth. Executive leadership blew a tremendous market/product lead (and a LOT of cash) on poorly planned business operations, frivolous spending, and reactionary/inconsistent decision making. For sales, few learning opportunities. Management has little direct sales experience and is learning as they go. Often push the rep to make decisions so they dont have to. Favoritism environment. Often encourage promising things to clients to get deals done that are unavailable and unplanned. Little space for growth and quota starting to feel unattainable due to smaller than advertised TAM, increasing competition with strong execution, growing headcount with long deal cycles relative to ASP

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re genuinely sorry to hear that your experience left you feeling unsupported, this is far below the standard we set for ourselves, and we’re disappointed to know we missed the mark. While we can’t change how you felt during your time with us, we sincerely appreciate you speaking up, and we take your perspective seriously. Over the past few years, our company and product have evolved rapidly, and with that growth have come significant organisational changes. As we’ve scaled, we’ve had to introduce more consistent frameworks that comply with regional regulations and more importantly, ensure fairness and clarity in how we operate across the team. We however, recognise that these changes can also feel impersonal if not handled with care. We are actively working to improve how we engage with employees (from exit interviews to feedback channels) and your input reinforces why this work is so important. Our goal is to create a workplace where people feel valued, heard, and supported at every stage of their journey here. Thank you again for taking the time to share this, your insights are helping us build a better company. Best, POPs team
