Pros

It is too soon to tell.

Kontras

I was hired for the upcoming school year; however, they didn't know which schools were participating at the time so I patiently waited. I was hesitant to start training before receiving a school placement as I was required to sign a form stating that if I completed training but didn't end up working in a school, I would be charged a $99 training fee. The business day before training started I was given a school placement; however, the morning of the second day of training I was informed that this was "tentative' and subject to change. They said they hoped to know by September 3, which is supposed to be my start date in a school, so naturally this concerned me. I was also required to sign a policy stating that I need to pay up front for the school district background check and fingerprinting and I will only be eligible for reimbursement AFTER working two weeks in a school. So this means that if I do not get a school placement I will be charged $99 for training AND will NOT be reimbursed for the district fees. I emailed my supervisor with my questions and concerns three times; however, she has NOT replied even though she has replied to different emails on the same chain and continues to email me regarding other issues.

Pros

Wonderful mission with proven results. It’s rewarding work, and all of the people I’ve worked with have been kind and care about the work they do.

Kontras

Part-Time and seasonal, and it’s difficult to have any job growth. As the company has grown, things have gotten a bit over complicated and over HR’d. For example, they've changed things so that trainings and meetings are paid at a lower rate than the regular hourly wage, and that just feels icky.
