I would best describe Centaur as an old start-up. Even though Centaur has been around for over 20 years it has continued to have a relatively small number of employees and a start-up like culture. At Centaur there is no micro-management of employees, the number of largely informal meetings are kept at a minimum (at least on the DV team) as to not distract employees from focusing on their job, and all the quality of co-workers is very high. Centaur is truly a great learning opportunity for any intern as I have yet to come across someone who isn't passionate about their job, incredibly skilled, and happy to help or explain something to you. As a relatively small company working on x86 CPUs, the work is never monotonous: every employee plays many different roles depending on the stage of the development cycle or even a given week, so you're constantly changing up on what you're working on and learning along the way. Centaur cares for its employees and thus provides very competitive compensation and benefits to interns, who receive the same benefits as full-time employees. When not working remotely due to coronavirus, breakfasts and lunches are provided at the office from a rotating selection of quality local Austin restaurants, and has provided take-out options from many of the same restaurants once or twice a week for employees located in Austin during the pandemic.
