Primarily - Chief Human Resources officer is egotistical and overtly disrespectful towards individuals who challenge or disagree with different things. Micro-aggressive and fragile, this individual uses her platform to shut down instead of encourage, fuel discomfort with a lack of listening to understand from the perspectives of people who have lived discrimination, and has an inflated sense of self. That being said, any employee will have a pleasant experience with anyone else than Valerie Mogavero, and there are some stellar leaders on the team despite her negativity. Dr. Diane Meyers, Celeste Chapman, and Dr. Ellen Gaske are all examples of phenomenal champions of leadership and inclusion where Valerie Mogavero is NOT. Secondarily - life/work balance, pay for the nature of the work, exposure to trauma - firsthand and vicarious, lack of sustainable support, lack of clear understanding/empathy from executive leadership of what staff at the school level experience and what supports they need to lessen attrition.

My supervisor was supportive, attentive, and respectful. Her weekly meetings were helpful, and supplies were ordered promptly.

Our funding was abruptly cut by the government. I was given no warning. All communications ceased from that day.
