Pros
I have had A LOT of teaching jobs in multiple states. This was one of my favorite jobs because it was so rewarding. I had students in tears asking me why they had never learned these things before or "how come it's so easy to understand it with you but I just don't get it in the classroom?" I truly hated having to leave. One of the great features of the job is the freedom. No big bother. The principal isn't going to walk in the room to perform an informal observation at any given moment. It's just a very easy going, casual atmosphere that allows for many teachable moments and wonderful learning opportunities for the students.
Kontras
Low pay...yet full-time hours. The pay was just so low I had to leave and find work elsewhere to pay the bills. Some complained about the paperwork, but there's definitely more in a public or even private school system so I never found that to be a problem.
