Pros

Work from home. Somewhat flexible work schedule. Decent product.

Kontras

Micromanagement at its finest by unqualified and inexperienced middle management who lack any kind of business acumen, ethical professionalism, or moral standards. They preach culture and work/life balance—don't buy it—it's a fallacy. Unrealistic goals—20% YOY growth expectation. Low compensation—new comp plan every year—progressively worse for the employee. Chargebacks that penalize the Rep on cancellations at 100% of monthly rate against current commissions after—in many cases—years of billing—is just simply greedy, unfair, and ridiculous! Extremely Cliquey—good luck if you're not in “the in-crowd." Favoritism at its worst. Merit-based promotion is non-existent—they promote their low-performing “favorites” to protect them from PIPs and/or termination. Open communication/feedback is neither encouraged nor welcomed. Overall—a company that seems to value superficiality over substance—good looks over talent—confidence over competency—and glibness over intelligence. This is the Achilles' Heel of the company and will be the ultimate reason for its epic fail.

Pros

Highly collaborative culture and lots of humility, people take ownership of their work and care to see it through to the end, and everyone is approachable and easy to work with.

Kontras

New leadership means lots of unknowns at the moment.

Pros

Cars.com or CARS or CARS Commerce (whatever you want to call this company) is going through its own internal identity crisis. Over 7 years ago, this company was one of the best to work for. However, over the last few years, many “bad actors” in leadership have snaked their way through bad performance and rewarded with promotions. The few good people that remain are the only positives of the company. It seems, though, after every yearly layoff, more and more of these OG employees that “bleed purple” are forced out via PIP or Re-Org.

Kontras

The cons list is long… it all starts with an HR department that creates job titles and requirements out of thin air but then doesn’t abide by any of them for their cronies. A constantly changing pay plan seems to be a way to confuse Sales and justify reasons not to pay. You must constantly watch your pay checks to ensure they’re accurate (just like at a car dealership; ironic?). Then they tout all the other benefits of working for the company to mask all the wrong being done.
