Pros
Learned skills to make myself more marketable
Kontras
Unfortunately, my time at Cahaba Medical Care was marked by a deeply dysfunctional workplace culture driven by insecure leadership and a lack of accountability. Leadership often appeared intimidated by employees who demonstrated strong knowledge or initiative, leading to a culture where staying quiet and passive was rewarded over competence or innovation.
Office managers frequently created unnecessary drama, which fueled internal conflict rather than promoting collaboration or professionalism. Constructive feedback was often dismissed, and promotions seemed to be based on favoritism and personal relationships rather than merit or performance.
The CEO showed a clear preference for employees who did not challenge the status quo, creating an environment where speaking up was discouraged and sometimes even penalized.
In addition, there were serious concerns about HIPAA compliance, with sensitive patient information not always being handled according to legal standards. This is something that should not be taken lightly in any healthcare-related setting.
Overall, I would not recommend this company to those seeking a healthy, growth-oriented workplace. There is potential for improvement, but it would require a significant cultural overhaul, particularly at the leadership level.
