Pros
There weren't many pros I can think of. The benefits are pretty good and the company can be relaxed when it comes to hours worked. If you like overtime there are some good opportunities but it is not predictable or guaranteed and is forced a lot of the time. Also if you like eating other people's leftover food you can pick at what the sponsors didn't eat but that'll be after hours of the food sitting out in the conference rooms.
Kontras
I want to warn prospective new employees because the interview does not prepare you for what the job is really like. They list your 'normal hours' on your job description but fail to impress upon you that many days you will have to come in early or stay much later and can be very unpredictable. Communication is very poor between study directors, vets, and research technicians. Do not expect to actually be able to take your breaks, and many days you do not have time to take your full 30 minutes for lunch either. When you do ask to take your 30 minute lunch most of the other technicians will give you a hard time about it. Management is more concerned about money than the health and well being of the techs- many times they want to get "one more done" but that means that the techs are stuck there late working 10-12+ hours. This is hard to do when you don't bring extra food for dinner so you are left exhausted and hungry at the end of the day. There is also a lot of blatant favoritism with certain techs and unprofessionalism including management allowing techs to date each other which can become uncomfortable when they start behaving inappropriately together at work. Management claims they offer lots of training opportunities but in my two years there I quickly learned most skills and then new training became almost stagnant. Issues are brought to the attention of HR and management but most never get resolved. There is more I could say but these are some of the major points. To support everything I just spoke about I will say that between June and September of this year 6 of the 13 research technicians left this company because of the horrible working conditions.
