Pros
Flexible Schedules - Great if you're finishing 4-year degree. Will work around your life and it was great. Mostly understandable Management- Management is mostly understandable and are aware that things happen outside of work. They were mostly reasonable when mistakes were made and it was easy to move past them. Friendly and helpful employees- Great people to work with. Really helpful and it was a good experience getting to know them. The moral of the office is mostly positive and enjoyable, although there are some times where its not so good. Straight to the action- Did not take a long time to start working with client hardware and doing important tasks. Felt important and was getting good experience straight from the start. Nice bonus- You earn what you work for. If you come to work and push yourself, your paycheck will reflect it. (After 6 months of being employed) Overall, good room to grow IT skills initially... Really fun people to work with. Everyone is helpful and laid back. IT boss was always helpful and was willing to sit down with me and answer any questions I had, teaching me seemed to be in his best interest every time there was something new to learn. Getting to do stuff on the servers and networks within my first few weeks was also awesome. I personally learned and grew a lot, especially during the first few months.
Kontras
Growth is limited after the first few months- Things started to get stagnated in terms of challenge and new experiences. For every 1 new/exciting project, there was 30 tickets fixing mundane issues in Outlook or printers, etc. You can only grow into getting these exciting projects a bit more often, but all those mundane issues will still be there, but that is the nature of the position. Horrible Phone system- Phone systems have been bad pretty much since I started working here. Hard to give support when your own phones are bad. Internet is also pretty bad. Not much recognition from management- Only real recognition I felt when I was excelling at my job was in my paycheck from the bonus. Not necessarily a deal breaker but it was rare to feel appreciated by management. Some decisions are counter intuitive- They recently announce a decision that would punish mistakes by taking away bonus money that we worked for. Not exactly motivating and actually has the opposite effect. Nobody wins because obviously we are going to learn from mistakes we make, no need to take away our hard earned bonus. Overall good place to work for someone just getting into IT. Most Cons are easily fixed by management, which I hope they do for the friends I made at work. How long you work here can vary depending on your ambition levels and how far you want to get in your IT career. There are a few guys here that have been here for 2+ years and they seem OK with their jobs, but I didn't want to be IT support for any longer than I needed to. If I wasn't looking to advance my Security career, I would still be working here.
