Refreshing Culture - Support and Deployment Engineer bei Bright Computing: Mitarbeiterbewertung

I currently work for Bright Computing as a support-and-deployment engineer and am paid generous compensation. As a US-based employee, I get to work from home, and the benefits I receive are satisfactory. My employment at Bright has allowed me the opportunity to work with many exciting technologies, such as OpenStack, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, and Azure. The expectations for my job have been clear ever since my first interview with the company. I always feel that my team's leadership has my back when they should, and my teammates are friendly, knowledgeable, and willing to provide assistance to their colleagues; it is one of the best teams I have ever been a part of. Our software development staff is just as friendly, always willing to work with support, dedicated, and comprised of some truly smart folks. I am honestly bewildered by the negative reviews on this site. First of all, Bright leadership is not looking to sell the company, and such an accusation is not only unfounded but bizarre. The notion that we aren't getting any new customers is wrong. The competence of our sales staff and the increased customer base is evident on my end when I see all of the support requests that get submitted by both new and existing customers. Bright Computing is an excellent company to work for.

Communication between the different teams could be improved, but it's typical of what I've seen working for previous employers.

This is a small company … with a lot of small company challenges … that is quietly building sales relationships with big tech companies. It’s one of those unique situations where a company develops the best tech for a particular use in a limited market, and then suddenly, the broader market for that tech suddenly explodes. That’s what is happening at Bright, and that’s why big tech companies are lining up to use their software. The company was focused on high-performance computing for many years, but they’ve used their tech to enter machine learning and other markets that need cluster management. Despite what some ex-employees have said about the product, the fact is, businesses and partners seem to love it. New management came in a few years ago and had to rebuild the company to position it for whats happening now, so naturally some of the old employees that liked things the old way are pissed off. Many left or were terminated, but when you look at the progress being made, the right decisions are being made. I’ve been with the company for just over a year, and it feels like the market is coming to us. I’m very excited about whats going to happen here.

Pay and benefits could be better, no corporate marketing, highly distributed org, communication should be more frequent.
