Pros
- The leadership cares for the team's well-being; they were receptive to implementing progressive HR practices like flexible time off and additional leaves to improve work-life balance and support. employees during important milestones (like grieving a loved one or starting a new family). - The leadership team gave a lot of autonomy to their functional leads and other individual contributors - this organization served as an amazing platform for my growth personally and I saw many other folks grow in their roles as well. - The overall culture was inclusive and receptive to employees of all different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives - You get to work with extremely kind, empathetic, intelligent, and talented people! - The leadership is receptive to feedback and inputs from the team (both when it comes to improving the overall culture and the product itself). They're eager to collaborate and lean on the insight and expertise of their teams. - When faced with challenging decisions (whether HR-related or customer/product related), the leaders always prioritized integrity and doing the right thing.
Kontras
Not necessarily a con, but Bettermode has some typical challenges of a startup of its size. For instance, a smaller team meant we were wearing several hats. An earlier stage of growth meant adapting the product to customer needs as we learned more about our users. This is part of what made the company a great platform for development; we learned to broaden our skillset and become very adaptable and innovative. However, it may not be suitable for someone who does not enjoy working in a startup environment or small team.
